I was lucky enough to grow up in the beautiful Stellenbosch region near Cape Town in South Africa, which is where I studied and met Johan, my husband, at university.
We fell in love with Ramsbottom in Lancashire, whilst traveling the UK after graduation.
Soon after graduating, I discovered a passion for orthodontics, a field in which I have been developing my skills over the past 17 years. I’ve worked as a clinical assistant in orthodontics for 4 years at Nort-Staffordshire hospital and completed my post graduate certificate at West-Midlands Deanery.
I love the relationship one builds whilst transforming someone’s smile, and the happiness on a patient’s face when those braces come off is the best part of my job.
Facial aesthetics treatment is another field that I enjoy, gently airbrushing some of the ravages of time, rather than changing a person’s features.
When not at work I’m a mum’s taxi, help coach and team manage netball at junior level, and spend hours next to various netball courts watching my daughter play netball. I’m admittedly a bit of a fair weather rugby mum, it never seems to rain when I watch my son play! Think years of freezing next to a rugby pitch watching Johan play has broken me. I like to keep fit, trying hard to relive my glory days as an athlete and netballer in my younger years. I’ve been known to drag my poor long suffering husband on Tough Mudders, boot camps and the likes.
